The fallout from Sherrone Moore’s arrest continues to unfold, with newly released bodycam footage offering a raw look at a coach unraveling under pressure. Hours after his December 10 arrest in Pittsfield Township, the former University of Michigan head coach is seen in a hospital room, emotional and defensive, insisting he had done nothing wrong. Instead, Moore pointed toward his former assistant, Paige Shiver, claiming the situation spiraled after he tried to end their relationship.
Sherrone Moore blames Paige Shiver as footage captures emotional breakdown
The footage, obtained and released by TMZ Sports, runs for over two hours and captures Moore in handcuffs, still dressed in Michigan gear, trying to process the speed of his downfall. At one point, his voice cracks as he tells officers, “I tried to break up with her,” before adding, “She’s out to get me.” He maintains throughout that he “didn’t do anything wrong and would never hurt Shiver,” even as he acknowledges the relationship had become a liability.
According to police, Moore had gone to Shiver’s residence earlier that day, confronting her after learning of his dismissal for what the university described as an inappropriate relationship. Officers reported that he threatened self-harm during the encounter, allegedly using butter knives and scissors. That claim prompted a mental health evaluation before he was taken into custody.
Inside the hospital room, Moore’s focus shifts between defending himself and worrying about what comes next. He asks repeatedly whether his arrest will become public, struggling with the idea of a criminal record. There is also a quieter, more personal side. He pleads with officers to let him call his wife, Kelli Moore, hoping to reach their children. The call attempts go unanswered at first, adding to the sense of isolation captured on camera.
Legal case narrows as accusations and consequences continue
The legal path since that night has been complex but decisive. Moore was initially charged with felony home invasion and stalking, along with a misdemeanor count of breaking and entering. Last month, he reached a plea agreement, entering a no contest plea to two reduced misdemeanors. Sentencing is scheduled for April 14, closing one chapter but leaving several questions unresolved.
Shiver, 32, has publicly accused Moore of long-term “manipulation, harassment and exploitation.” Her attorney’s 911 call, also released, claims years of troubling behavior leading up to the incident. She has not ruled out further legal action.
Moore’s dismissal came at a sensitive moment, just as Michigan was preparing for postseason play following the departure of Jim Harbaugh. The program has yet to name a permanent replacement, and university officials have remained largely silent since the initial decision.
For Moore, the footage presents a stark image of a coach caught between personal choices and public consequences, with the full impact still unfolding.
