NEW DELHI: The Detroit Lions have made a strategic move to retain cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, reportedly re-signing him to a one-year deal before he entered free agency, according to ESPN sources.

Moseley, who is set to turn 28 on March 25, faced a challenging season in 2023 after tearing his right ACL just two snaps into his Lions debut on October 8.

This unfortunate incident occurred 364 days after he tore the ACL in his left knee while playing for the San Francisco 49ers against the Panthers on October 9, 2022.

Despite the setbacks, Moseley's talent and potential have not gone unnoticed. The Lions initially signed him to a one-year, $6 million deal in free agency last March. The decision to retain him underscores the team's belief in his abilities and potential contribution to their defense.

Throughout his career, Moseley has proven himself as a reliable cornerback, amassing 162 tackles, 33 passes defensed, and four interceptions in 46 games, with 33 starts split between Detroit and San Francisco from 2018 to 2022. The Lions, recognizing his value, have opted to keep Moseley in their lineup for the upcoming season.
