Drake Maye reveals his postgame plans, and his heartfelt answer shows why fans are falling in love with him

Drake Maye stepped into the brightest postseason spotlight of his young career on Sunday night and looked right at home. In a tense playoff atmosphere at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots quarterback delivered poise, balance, and control while guiding New England to a 16-3 win over Justin Herbert and the Chargers. This was Maye’s first playoff start and his first playoff win, a milestone that signaled his rapid rise from promising prospect to dependable leader.

"My parents come to every game so they’re always here," Maye said. "And my three brothers are here, which is pretty cool. It’s just special sharing these moments with them and going home and probably playing ping pong until 1:30 a.m. or something. Having them in the house is cool, three of my best friends. And obviously (his wife) Ann Michael, so I can’t forget about her."

He later echoed the same sentiment, reinforcing how much those connections mean during the grind of an NFL season.

"Yeah, my parents come to every game," Maye revealed. "They’re always here. My three brothers were here, which is pretty cool, all three of ’em being here. It’s just special sharing these moments with them."

As for his plans to celebrate his first playoff victory...

"Going home, probably playing ping-pong till 1:30 a.m. or doing something with those guys," he said with a smile.

"It's these moments that he cherishes most, especially during the season."

"Having them in the house is cool," Maye added. "Three of my best friends and obviously, Ann Michael."

The Patriots now await the winner of the Texans Steelers matchup, with a home date that could push New England to its first AFC championship game since 2018. Maye may soon hear MVP chatter grow louder, but his focus remains refreshingly simple. Win the game. Go home. Play ping pong with family.
