Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59. Unsurprisingly, rumours began swirling over the future of several key players, including Chiefs' wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The WR wrapped up his 12th year and is looking to enter his 13th at 33 years old. There was quite a bit of speculation over his retirement and Hopkins took to social media to clear the air with a tweet but quickly deleted his post.

The retirement talk stemmed from a fake Adam Schefter account, which claimed Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters that Hopkins had told his team that he wanted to retire. However, Hopkins took to X and wrote, The retirement talk stemmed from a fake Adam Schefter account, which claimed that Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters that Hopkins informed the team of his intent to retire.
"Don't know what you heard but I'm not done yet," Hopkins wrote. But then deleted it. Since being drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Hopkins has been crucial to the team. The five-time All-Pro Bowler led the NFL in receiving touchdowns in 2017. He spent seven seasons with the Houston Texans before signing with the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans before being traded to the Chiefs this October.
Hopkins spoke to the press after the Super Bowl and according to him, the Chiefs were on the receiving end of most of the controversial calls in the Super Bowl, contrary to what was widely being reported in media about refs being partial to the Chiefs.
“You know I saw a lot of things in the media about the refs but obviously…what ya’ll gonna say now about the refs and us when there was a lot of touchy calls? Are ya’ll gonna report that? Are ya’ll gonna talk about the refs now?”
