Cowboys suffer historic defeat, set unwanted record in crushing loss to Eagles

In an unfortunate twist, the Dallas Cowboys entered the NFL record books not for an achievement, but for an unprecedented losing trend on their home turf. During their Week 10 defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas became the first team in league history to trail by 20 or more points in five consecutive home games. This streak began during last season's playoffs and has continued to mar their home-field performances ever since.

Cowboys make history for all the wrong reasons in lopsided loss to Eagles

The slide started in the wild-card playoff round, where the Cowboys fell to the Green Bay Packers 48-32. At one stage, they trailed the Packers by a staggering 27-0, setting a worrying tone. Dallas’s struggles didn’t end there; in Week 2, they endured a crushing 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The following week, they again found themselves in deep trouble against the Baltimore Ravens, trailing 28-6 before ultimately losing a closer 28-25. Their fortunes worsened in Week 6, as they suffered a devastating 47-9 blowout at the hands of the Detroit Lions. The record-breaking streak reached five games with a 34-6 loss to the Eagles, marking a trend that has been hard for fans and the organization alike to stomach.

With a 3-6 record, the Cowboys’ season appears to be in jeopardy, and their quarterback situation compounds their troubles. Dak Prescott is likely to be sidelined for an extended period, leaving backup quarterback Cooper Rush to fill the gap. However, Rush’s performance against the Eagles, where he completed only 13 of 23 passes for a mere 45 yards, left much to be desired. In fact, the situation became so dire that third-string quarterback Trey Lance was brought into action, a move that underscored the team’s current struggles.

Owner Jerry Jones, known for his high expectations, cannot be pleased with the ongoing situation. As the Cowboys brace for their next home game against the Houston Texans, the hope for a turnaround is tinged with the anxiety of potentially extending this disheartening streak even further.
