The New York Giants have parted ways with Daniel Jones, snapping a six-year run as center. Jones is likely to go through waivers because of his $160 million four-year contract signed in 2023. Afterward, he will be free to sign with any NFL team. The Cowboys, at 3-7 and with Cooper Rush in place following Dak Prescott's injury, might need to look into signing Jones to fix their stagnant offense.

The Cowboys are not interested in signing Daniel Jones

The Dallas Cowboys are satisfied with the current quarterback situation, of course, but signing former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones in free agency mightn't hurt. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones was dismissive of speculation about Jones, noting that the team is already "in good shape" at quarterback.
Stephen Jones said, "No, I think we’re in good shape at our quarterback spot," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Friday via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "We think Cooper gives us the best chance to win right now. And certainly we still want to see some. We’ll kind of see how the season goes here. We still really want to see (backup quarterback Trey) Lance and like what he brings to the table. And then, of course, long-term, we all know we made our commitment to Dak for the long term.
"Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy stated that Dallas is currently concentrating on the current roster players. "I've never really been in the business of looking at players based off the team they are released from, especially with the timing of the next game," McCarthy said, per Machota. "He was a prospect I really liked coming out, but we kind of have our head down right now and really focused on working with the guys we have here. Also Read: “He is the most valuable component”: Former Eagles center Jason Kelce defends Saquon Barkley's MVP candidacy The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott for the season with a hamstring, leaving Cooper Rush to go the final 566 yards and two touchdowns on his own. Jones would represent an upgrade-thrown for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions-but that may not be enough given Dallas's 3-7 record and need for a miracle to get into the postseason. McCarthy and the Cowboys will analyze how Rush and Trey Lance fared this season, meanwhile Jones is looking for a new opportunity.
