Nessa Diab spares no chance of cheering for her longtime partner Colin Kaepernick, be it on social media or in real life. The couple started dating in 2015, welcomed their daughter in 2022, and have also written a
new children’s book, ‘We Are Free You and Me’ which came out last month.
Nessa Diab Says Colin Kaepernick Is Still ‘No. 1 In Her Book’
Recently, Kaepernick earned the No. 10 spot on the Bleacher Report’s list of the 25 most influential sports figures since 2000. And even though Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season, his activism no doubt played a part in earning him this title. And though the no. 10 spot is no mean feat, Nessa took to social media to voice her support and admiration for her partner.
Nessa shared the list on her Instagram post and said that Kaepernick holds some of the best records and took his team, San Francisco 49ers to two NFC Championships back-to-back. “@kaepernick7 BEEEEN took that team to the
Super Bowl. Took that team to 2 NFC Championship Games Back to Back," Nessa wrote on Instagram. "Still holds some of the best records until this very day. And then, he did something so selfless that cost him his hard earned career. And people stood on the sidelines and watched him get buried but he still kept going. HE'S NUMBER 1 IN MY BOOK!"
This isn't the first time Neesa has called out the NFL. Last
Halloween, Kaepernick’s girlfriend threw shade at the league by placing tape on the logos of a Kaepernick jersey. It’s no secret that the former San Francisco 49ers player struggled to get recruited by the league once he began to take a knee to protest police brutality and racial injustice during the
national anthem.
"I will forever miss it," Kaepernick told NPR. "And I continue to train for it. At the end of the day, I don't want to be in a position where I look back and have to question whether or not I gave it my all to try to pursue that. I will make sure that the reason I'm not playing is not because of my work ethic or commitment, but because I was held out of it."
The 34-year-old has shared that he wants to come back to the league to win a Super Bowl, which he reached in 2013 with the 49ers. "You had those dreams from when you were a kid. 'I'm [gonna] be an NFL player and I'm going to win a Super Bowl.' And for me, I have unfinished business on that front. I have been to the Super Bowl. We were one play away. Well, I need to finish that,” he said.
