Cleveland Browns rumors: $42 million Seahawks WR linked to be in Shedeur Sanders’ squad

The Cleveland Browns could be eyeing a major addition to their offense this offseason, with reports linking Rashid Shaheed to a potential move from the Seattle Seahawks to Cleveland.

According to Sportrac, Shaheed who is set to hit free agency could command a three-year, $42 million deal. That price tag may seem significant, but for a Browns team searching for explosiveness and consistency at wide receiver, it might be a risk worth taking.

Browns looking to support Shedeur Sanders?

With uncertainty at quarterback and speculation that rookie Shedeur Sanders could be part of Cleveland’s plans, the Browns are expected to prioritize surrounding their passer with reliable playmakers. The wide receiver room currently features Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman and Isaiah Bond, a group that has shown flashes but struggled with consistency and injuries.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz predicts that adding Shaheed would instantly bring speed and big-play ability. The 28-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most explosive receivers in the league. He has averaged more than 17 yards per catch over several seasons and has shown that he can be dangerous both downfield and in open space.



Shaheed caught 687 yards in 2025, which would have been the most by a Browns receiver last season. He also brings postseason experience, having been part of Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning squad.

Shaheed’s value goes beyond offense. Cleveland’s special teams unit ranked near the bottom of the league in both punt and kick return efficiency in 2025. Shaheed has scored multiple return touchdowns during his career and remains one of the league’s most dangerous return men.

For a team that struggled with field position and explosive plays, this dual-threat ability could address two key weaknesses at once.

Can the Browns afford Rashid Shaheed?

While the fit makes sense on paper, finances remain a major hurdle. The Browns currently have limited cap space, though the NFL’s projected salary cap increase could provide some relief. Spotrac estimates Shaheed’s market value at around $14 million per year, a manageable figure if Cleveland restructures contracts or moves other pieces.

However, the Seahawks are expected to show interest in retaining him, and they have significantly more financial flexibility. That could complicate Cleveland’s pursuit.

Shaheed may not solve every offensive problem for the Browns, but pairing a young quarterback with a proven deep threat could accelerate the team’s rebuild. If Cleveland is serious about turning the page and building around its next franchise passer, adding a player of Shaheed’s profile would be a strong statement of intent.
