The Super Bowl weekend has been presented with a perfect amalgamation of celebrity, fashion and football, yet the insider perspective of
Olivia Culpo in Super Bowl LIX provided a more human glimpse into the behind-the-scenes. The host of the Super Bowl red carpet special on Tubi in New Orleans, Culpo was not only taking pictures, but she was making overtime, having to work around and through the unpredictable weather and silently dealing with early pregnancy.
The past Miss Universe juggled live television, stylistic demands, and physical fatigue, a reminder to the fans of the fact that even the most groomed NFL wives have to contend with reality on the ground. Her open self-assessment makes the slick Super Bowl story richer and more connected to the extent of the planning and strength that these high-profile events demand.
A rain-soaked red carpet, pregnancy secrecy, and life beyond the spotlight
Culpo revealed that her biggest challenge wasn’t the interviews or cameras, it was the weather. What started as a glamorous hosting gig quickly turned into a logistical struggle once rain hit New Orleans.
Speaking to PEOPLE, she admitted, "It started pouring in New Orleans, I had been in these heels doing a live show since, like, 6 a.m., and we had to walk so far in the rain. I didn't predict needing an umbrella, but that would have been helpful!"
At the time, Culpo was also pregnant, though she and Christian McCaffrey hadn’t yet shared the news publicly.
Navigating slick pavement, long distances, and hours on her feet became even more demanding under those circumstances. The couple later announced their pregnancy in March, welcoming their daughter, Colette, in July just ahead of San Francisco 49ers training camp.
Since then, Culpo has embraced her new chapter as a mother while continuing to support McCaffrey’s career. Recently, the family shared holiday photos from Disneyland and 49ers games, capturing a softer, more personal side of NFL life. Culpo captioned the festive moments with warmth and gratitude, writing, "Happy Coziest time of the year! Love you all ❤️❤️❤️"
While McCaffrey and the 49ers celebrate clinching a playoff spot, Culpo’s story offers a reminder that behind every NFL headline is a partner juggling demanding schedules, personal milestones, and unexpected rainstorms, sometimes all at once.
