Tyler Loop’s disappointing miss changed everything for the Baltimore Ravens, and the backlash followed instantly. The Ravens' rookie watched as his missed 44-yard field goal in Week 18 sealed a painful loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, ending the team’s season and crowning a division rival. The spotlight of criticism from fans stayed fixed on Loop’s crucial error. Yet amid the negativity, Tavia Hunt, wife of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, offered much-needed support to the kicker. Coming off a disappointing 6-11 season of her own, the team could really use some optimism, and Hunt’s empathetic response was a big one.

Faith, accountability, and controversy shape the aftermath of a defining moment

Hunt shared a post from Sports Spectrum and the Ravens chaplain on her Instagram story, adding only prayer emojis. The clip showed Loop answering questions at his locker, clearly shaken but composed when addressing the media. When asked what grounded him during the game, Loop emphasized the importance of his prayer and the power of faith.
Loop said in the clip, “I had written down a renowned prayer for the game and just re-reading it. Faith is a big part of my life, and right now I’m reading the book of Romans, and in Romans eight says God works for the good of those who love him for who call according to his purpose…” This spiritual approach became his guiding principle when he analyzes his performances.
He continued by explaining his focus on being a good teammate and stewarding his opportunity in Baltimore, even after the miss. He added, “It’s been incredible, so just like reminding myself that hey, guys got my back even when stuff *****.” The kicker also stated that he has to move on and focus on the future rather than being bogged down by recent failure. That message resonated deeply with Hunt, who leaned on similar beliefs when the Chiefs were eliminated earlier in the season. After Kansas City’s Week 15 loss, she wrote, “Life is bigger than football, even when football means so much.” It echoed what Loop stated regarding the importance of not being mentally consumed due to losses. It was not that Loop was a dud this season, as he converted 30 of 33 field goals. Former NFL player Jason McCourty highlighted a possible missed leverage penalty on the Steelers that could have given Baltimore another untimed kick. Although it was a big miss for Loop, no one can deny his consistency this season.
