Some couples keep to themselves. Some love to flaunt. Some don’t care if anybody’s staring at them. And some want everybody to envy them [wish-we-had-what-they-have kind of feeling]. That’s what transpired in Jonathan Owens’ personal life. An X account by the name of “Prince” recently dropped a 1-minute collection of the Chicago Bears safety’s PDA moments with his Olympic Gold Medalist wife Simone Biles from 2025 season.
The moments were cute, cheeky, cringe, surprising, but somewhere down the line [barring some moments], charming. Anyhow, cybercitizens have their own ways of name-calling it. A post read, “being a perv in public.” Another fan declared, “some things must be done privately, you can’t be squeezing your wife b*m in public.”
Jonathan Owens’ moments with decorated gymnast wife Simone Biles spark social media backlash
The very first moment shows
Simone Biles in a short navy-blue skirt with “36” and “OWENS” written in big, bold white font. She paired it with a white full-sleeved top. While her husband wore a colorful-badges-filled black jacket, and black track pants.
She embraced him on the gridiron while he grabbed and squeezed her behind. A few nanoseconds later, he realized the squeeze may have taken her skirt too high, so he gently pulled the skirt down. Then came another gridiron moment, when they posed for the grab.
These moments received significant reaction from fans. Several fans called the gesture disrespectful, especially when done publicly toward one’s wife. Some called it “classless behavior.”
One post read, “as much as they look so in love, grabbing your wife’s b**ty like that in public is disrespectful for me. Some things are better done off camera.” Other fans questioned the need for such displays on camera or called public groping weird.
A user wondered, “why is he groping her like that on camera. No respect. Have some class.” Another post mentioned, “bring back respectful men. Bring back men who do not need to parade their women as successful. She’s an Olympic Gold Medalist. She is your wife. What happened to just a sweet embrace?????”
Some fans stood up for Jonathan Owens
A few fans stood up in support: “ohh, to be loved loudly,” “y’all mad he’s grabbing his own wife in public but stay quiet when other couples do way worse. Let them live, they cute a* together,” “bro turned appreciating that lil a** into a full-time job. wife must be smiling for days—this is husband goals,” and “he gripped that a** and fixed the skirt after. that’s balance.”
One fan bluntly wrote that “all these theatrics don’t move us,” and suggested, “take your family away from social media and have a nice life with your wife.” The fan later commented that marriage is quite “challenging” after a few years, and “emotional maturity and ability to tolerate” are tested.
Biles and Owens have been married for almost three years now. Love is new. Marriage is young. If their romance is loud, some fans are bound to feel burned and/or bitter. Then again, a user expressed that they don’t understand why “people are so focused on finding fault in their marriage, let people be happy.”
