The incident occurred while the Dalton family was traveling westbound on Sardis Road. The team confirmed that Dalton, his wife Jordan, their three children, and the family dog were all inside the vehicle. Despite no emergency medical attention required, everyone appears safe. The cause of the accident remains unknown.

The Carolina Panthers announced on social media that quarterback Andy Dalton and his family were involved in a car accident in Charlotte. "Neither Dalton nor his family were transported by emergency medical personnel. Dalton is being evaluated by team medical personnel," the organization said in a statement.
Dalton has started five games this season and has thrown seven touchdowns against six interceptions. He has played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints, and has played in six games this season. Dalton finished ninth in Heisman voting with TCU in 2010. The Panthers are 1-6, last in NFC South, and three games behind Atlanta Falcons. They would pick second in the NFL draft if the season ends.
Dalton, nicknamed the "Red Rifle," played college football for TCU Horned Frogs and won the 2011 Rose Bowl. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. Dalton led the Bengals to five consecutive playoff appearances from 2011 to 2015 and received three Pro Bowl selections. He and wide receiver A. J. Green set records for completions and yards by a rookie quarterback/receiver combination and set Bengals franchise records for passing touchdowns, single-season passing yards, and single-season passing touchdowns.
Despite his regular season success, Dalton went winless in the playoffs and was released by the Bengals in 2020 following four consecutive losing seasons. He spent his next three seasons alternating as a starter and backup with the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints for one year each. Dalton joined the Panthers in 2023.
