NEW DELHI: As the San Francisco 49ers gear up for a crucial Week 13 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, second-year quarterback Brock Purdy is approaching the game with a business-as-usual mindset. Despite the underlying narrative surrounding this NFC Championship Game rematch, Purdy is keeping his focus on the present, treating the contest like any other business trip.
Purdy's journey since the late January clash with the Eagles has been marked by adversity and triumph. Following a season-ending elbow injury, he emerged stronger and is currently leading several statistical categories for quarterbacks through Week 12. With a passer rating of 112.3, 9.4 yards per attempt, and a completion percentage of 70.2, Purdy has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the league.
In a recent interview, Purdy emphasized his forward-looking approach, stating, "Yeah, I got hurt there and everything, but you know, for me, it's Week 13, we're going on the road in a hostile environment, we're late in the season so obviously, everything is big for us. That's where I'm at with my mindset. Am I going to go back and feel a certain way? None of that. It's a new year, new teams, slightly different. That's how I'm looking at it."
While memories of the NFC Championship Game may linger, the stakes and circumstances have evolved. Purdy remains committed to maintaining consistency in his approach and pregame routine, focusing on gratitude and staying true to his goal of being the best version of himself every week.
Regarding potential adjustments, Purdy hinted at a minor change based on weather conditions. If rain becomes a significant factor, he may opt to wear a glove for improved ball grip. "If it's a down-pouring rain, putting on a glove helps with a little more tack on the ball," Purdy explained. "If it's a light rain, I don't know if it's necessarily a necessity. I feel like I can grip the ball with or without a glove if it's light rain."
