NEW DELHI: Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed Thursday's practice due to illness, marking the first time this season he was unavailable. Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP, did not participate in the practice, leaving Tyler Huntley and Josh Johnson to take over quarterback duties. Jackson has been a key player for the Ravens, completing 68.3% of his passes for 2,618 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 games this season. Additionally, he has rushed for 574 yards and five touchdowns.Despite Jackson's absence from practice, the Ravens are otherwise in good health coming out of their bye week. There are no reported injuries to other players, and wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who missed Wednesday's practice due to illness, returned to the field on Thursday.Tyler Huntley, serving as Baltimore's primary backup, has demonstrated his capabilities in the 2022 season, posting a 2-2 record while stepping in for Jackson. However, the absence of Jackson in Thursday's practice raises concerns, especially given his history of missing games in December due to injuries in the past two seasons. While there is optimism that Jackson should be ready for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, his health will likely be closely monitored in the coming days. The Ravens, currently with a 9-3 record, are set to face the Rams (6-6) in what promises to be a crucial matchup.(With Reuters inputs)
