The AFL released a statement via its official X account about the sudden passing of Troy Selwood, a star of the Brisbane Lions in the AFL. Selwood was only 40 years old. He is survived by two children, Tom and Sadie. The Australian Rules Footballer is known for his generosity, bravery, humor, love, and compassion. The online world was swamped with overpouring of love for the midfielder of Brisbane Lions.
AFL shared the statement of Troy Selwood’s passing on behalf of the Selwood family on its official X platform

“Troy was a much loved and loving member of our family. Throughout his life, Troy brought joy and light to all who knew him. He was a loving son of Maree and Bryce, a supportive and caring brother to Adam, Joel, and Scott, and a doting father of beautiful children Tom and Sadie.
We will miss Troy’s bravery, his humour, his deep thinking, his love and compassion. Troy had a generosity of spirit, cared deeply about people and strove to make the lives of others better.
We are grateful to all those that have supported Troy throughout his life, and we know that his many friends, teammates and colleagues will miss him greatly.”
A little bit about the Brisbane Lions midfielder Troy Selwood, his twin brother, Adam Selwood, and his other two brothers, Joel Selwood and Scott Selwood
Troy Selwood played 75 games for the Brisbane Lions in the AFL from 2003 to 2010 as a midfielder. In 2009, Richmond’s Alex Rance knocked Troy Selwood unconscious in a brutal collision. Selwood played captain for the Geelong’s VFL team in 2012. After his playing career, Troy entered the talent recruitment for Geelong and Collingwood. He even became a Sports mentor at Geelong Grammar School.
40-year-old Troy Selwood has three brothers, out of which one is an identical twin brother named Adam Selwood. Adam Selwood is a former tagger for the West Coast Eagles in the AFL. His other two younger brothers are Joel and Scott. Scott is a former midfielder for West Coast and Geelong. He currently works as a development coach in Collingwood. Joel is an AFL rising star, who played for the Geelong as a midfielder.
