“A tough team”: Chiefs Travis Kelce shares his top concerns about the upcoming playoff game against the Houston Texans

The Kansas City Chiefs are ready to own this postseason after winning a franchise-record 15 games in the regular season and securing the No. 1 seed. They will have a home field advantage and first-round bye during the playoffs. Adding another week of rest might just give Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce the much-needed boost before they host the Houston Texans in the AFC divisional round. Kelce, who caught a league-high 32 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns last season, shared his concerns about the playoff game against the Houston Texans.

35-year-old quarterback Travis Kelce was anxious about the swiftness of the Houston Texans' defensive line in the AFC Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs, as he and the Kansas City Chiefs chased their third straight Super Bowl win.


The defending champions, who earned a first-round bye because of their lead in the regular season, will start their postseason against C.J. Stroud's team at Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce, who has made just 828 receiving yards for three touchdowns, is worried about the Texans' defensive coordinator, Matt Burke,'s preparations for Saturday's game.

“The Texans, you want to talk about playing fast," Kelce said on the New Heights podcast. "That D-line, that defense, it's a real deal right there. “They showed it this past weekend against the Chargers and what they can do. They can create turnovers. They're a tough team. I'm excited for the challenge.”

The Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card game, limiting their points to just 12 points. Justin Herbet threw four interceptions in one game, surpassing his three in the regular season. Stroud passed for 282 yards and a touchdown, while Mixon rushed for 106 yards and Collins made 122 receiving yards. "This team plays very, very well together," Kelce said of the Texans. "It's going to take all 11 (players) on the field.”


Kelce, along with most starters, did not play during the team's regular season finale, allowing many key players to enter the divisional round with two weeks of rest. This boost comes on Saturday, as Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, will be at Arrowhead Stadium.

"That's the beauty of being in a very strong relationship," Kelce told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith on Wednesday's show, "is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft. Focus on being the best version of you. I think I'm as focused as I've ever been on my job and being the best player I can possibly be, week in and week out for this team," Kelce added, "And it's because I don't have to worry about things off the field.”

The Chiefs, who have won four Super Bowls and five of their six games, are poised to advance to the AFC Conference Championship game for the seventh consecutive season.
