Travis Kelce is all smiles while talking about working with Adam Sandler

On a recent installment of "The Pat McAfee Show," Travis Kelce gushed over being able to collaborate with comedic great Adam Sandler. The tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs will co-star with Sandler in the streaming service Netflix's "Happy Gilmore 2," although there is currently no word as to what exactly that role might entail; he played some type of country club functionary in the teaser Netflix dropped recently.

“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said, “I thought ‘SNL’ was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

Kelce, despite not being a top-billed actor, revealed that he has "a few" scenes in the film and that shooting for "Happy Gilmore 2" was a heavy workload. “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with,” Kelce added. “I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”

Happy Gilmore 2 is a sequel to the 1996 comedy directed by Dennis Dugan. The film follows ice hockey failure Happy Gilmore, who discovers he has a golfing talent. Tournaments are followed to stop his grandmother's house foreclosure. Universal Pictures released the film, which grossed more than $82 million worldwide.

Professional golfers Keegan Bradley, John Daly, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, and Lee Trevino, who also appeared in the first film, are set to make cameo appearances.

Plot details for the sequel are not known, but the original Happy Gilmore was about a hot-headed hockey player who turns to the world of professional golf to save his grandmother's home from foreclosure. The 1996 film was directed by Dennis Dugan and grossed $41 million at the global box office against a $12 million budget.
