As the NFL season winds down, recovery has become the new grind inside the Mahomes household. While Patrick Mahomes begins a long road back from a serious knee injury, his wife Brittany is quietly marking a personal comeback of her own. Nearly two years after suffering a fractured back following childbirth, Brittany’s latest update shows just how far patience and discipline can carry an athlete beyond the spotlight.
Brittany's career has not been hot or fast-tracked. It has been stable, deliberate and very physical. After finding herself set aside by pain and lack of movement, Brittany is now back in the gym regaining strength that was previously unattainable. The timing matters. As Kansas City heads into an off season of uncertainty, her progress provides a much needed bell of reprieve in an in-between of rehab schedules and health care timelines.
Brittany Mahomes shows strength after long recovery journey
Brittany Mahomes first opened up about her condition in early 2024, months after welcoming daughter Golden Raye. The injury forced her to pause a lifestyle built around fitness and movement. By mid 2024, she shared encouraging news while speaking to E! News.
“I’m doing great,” Brittany Mahomes told E! News in 2024. “I’m living my best life. My back is no longer broken, so that’s good. I’m finally fully recovered and back to doing the things that I’ve always been able to do. I’m staying on top of my health.”
This week, she reinforced that message through action. A video shared by her fitness instructor showed Brittany performing barbell back squats, a demanding movement that places direct strain on the spine. The post reflected on how far she has come.
“a year and a half ago, rehabbing a broken back meant severe pain and limited movement. now, almost a year postpartum and progressively getting stronger every week. proof that the body is capable of incredible things when you meet it with patience and intentional training. so proud of you @brittanylynne 🤍”
While Brittany rebuilds strength, Patrick Mahomes continues rehab after surgery on a torn ACL and MCL. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently said the quarterback is “doing great” early in recovery. Together, their parallel paths highlight resilience, consistency, and the quiet work that happens long after the final whistle.
