Marshon Lattimore Solomon Thomas and DeShone Kizer used sports to get away from struggles. Without staying focused they might have felt lost or left out. However, their mothers did not let them feel lost. Felicia Killebrew remembers her son Marshon Lattimore always full of energy always ready to compete. He felt sad when coaches took him out after he scored touchdowns but she pushed him to keep going in football even when he thought about stopping in high school. Felicia promised to watch every game even overcoming her fear of flying to be there during important times in his football life. According to the Los Angeles Times, “Mom, you have to promise me you’ll come to every game.” Lattimore had told his mom. His mom never broke that promise and left Cleveland to be with him, through every gameMartha Thomas had her own challenges with her son Solomon. In the fourth grade he already weighed 195 pounds. People thought he should play football just by looking at him before they even knew him. In school he stood out a lot.
Martha supported him patiently helping him handle all the pressure. She always just knew how he felt during matches and would somehow sense when he was close to winning big plays.Mindy Kizer also went through the emotional ups and downs with her son DeShone. When he started playing for Notre Dame as a freshman she yelled from the stands but also worried about every play concerned for his safety. Away from football Mindy helped him stay grounded. Even as his fame grew she and her husband didn’t spoil him. One time when DeShone lost his wallet Mindy made him work to replace the money by finishing work on their deck.
