The Jets fans are bringing the heat—in every sense of the word—just before their Thursday night encounter against the New England Patriots. In a now-viral video making the rounds on social media, a group of Jets fans lit aflame a Patriots jersey sporting the number 10 on the front. That is the number donned by rookie quarterback Drake Maye this season after he elected to import the jersey number from his collegiate playing days.

'Can players in the NBA play in the NFL?' Jason Kelce Asks Igniting The Infamous FeudNow, Jets fans aren't exactly the wildest bunch in the league—by comparison, the Bills Mafia are raucous, and Raiders fans are always fired up—but it appears times are a-changin'. Evidently, this rollercoaster start to the season lit the fire under things.
The Jets are still reeling from the stomach punch of
Aaron Rodgers's season-ending Achilles tear just four snaps into the opener against the Bills. Without Rodgers, the team sees if a bit of extra fan intensity might be what they need as they face a Patriots squad that's also 1-1.
It was the only game this season the Jets and Patriots played at MetLife Stadium, and though the Jets were victorious 15-10, in what should have been a winning effort, they lost by the merest of margins.
And since the Pats are not in charge anymore of legends Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, whom they did so well against, fans may just appreciate the reversal of fortunes, and that's just for good measure. Coach Patriots' Jerod Mayo is opting to start veteran Jacoby Brissett instead of rookie Drake Maye. While Brissett fared well in a 24-23 Week 1 victory over the Bengals, he wasn't as fortunate last week as the Seahawks took a 23-20 overtime win from him.
Meanwhile, the Jets have had a mixed opening to their campaign, beating the Titans after losing to the 49ers. That has left them playing their third game in 11 days, and fatigue is increasingly likely to become a factor as the season wears on. Traditionally, the Jets have beaten the Pats just three times since 2011, but this one feels very different with Brady and Belichick gone and Rodgers still around, if not out there playing.
All in all, this is quite a fiery rivalry, thanks to the fans and their burning ambitions—quite literally.
