CHANDIGARH: Having missed out on the Test series in Sri Lanka, the spotlight will be on vice-captain Yuvraj Singh when he returns to the squad for the five-match ODI series.
Yuvraj's discomfort against quality spin is well-known, but this time he seems eager to prove a point. "The wickets are slow in Sri Lanka so it's not easy to score runs," Yuvraj said, "One has to watch the ball patiently for a few overs, gauge the pitch, and then adapt according to the situation."
India's Test squad has been unable to cope with the mystery deliveries of Ajantha Mendis and Yuvraj sounded cautious when quizzed on the issue.
"Mendis is a new bowler with a repertoire of new balls, so batsmen are taking time to figure him out. Once we play him frequently, it won't be much of a problem. They also have Muralitharan so it will be a great challenge for us," Yuvraj said.
