MUMBAI: The void created by SouravGanguly's retirement may take time to fill but former Indian captain MohammadAzharuddin feels another flamboyant southpaw, Yuvraj Singh, could be an idealreplacement.
But for that to happen Yuvraj needs to get his actright, insists Azhar. "He is extremely talented and I wonder what's going wrong.I hope someone speaks to him and helps him out. He also has to sort out a fewtechnical aspects of his game. I think his feet don't move enough," opined Azharwhile speaking to TOI on the sidelines of the England's practice game againstMumbai XI at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
The Hyderabadi is alsoimpressed by Ishant Sharma's raw pace and attitude. "He looks like a veryhard-working chap. He is young and can go on to become the best if he carries onthe good work."
Any glimpses of Kapil Dev? "He does bowl long spellsbut Kapil is in a different league. He could bat, bowl and field very well evenat 34. I remember Kapil bowled for over two hours on the trot in the KarachiTest in 1989. It's too early to compare Ishant with him," he said.
He also rubbished notions of conserving the Delhi pacer for thefuture. "He is only 20. If he doesn't work hard now then when are you going tomake him sweat? This is the time. If his body is taking it, let him continue,"he added.
MS Dhoni is another cricketer, whom Azhar singled out forfulsome praise. "Dhoni understands every format of the game and knows what ittakes to lead a side and come out with a win in Tests, ODIs and T20s."
