When Chetan Chauhan almost became a selector!
NEW DELHI: Before Mohinder Amarnath replaced Yashpal Sharma as the north zone selector last year, another Delhi cricketer and vice-president of the Delhi & District Association (DDCA) Chetan Chauhan came close to becoming a selector.
According to BCCI sources, Chauhan was in the wish list of becoming a north zone selector, but he disqualified as a candidate for being a DDCA official.

Then BCCI bigwigs proposed Amarnath’s name, which was ratified by the north zone state associations. As per the BCCI rule, one can’t be a selector and an office bearer of BCCI and state affiliated units. Sources also said that his rule was adopted by the board on Late Nawab Pataudi’s proposal.
With the north zone state units expressing their unhappiness over Amarnath’s absence from the zone, Chauhan’s name may again come up for discussion, but he can’t be considered till the time he resigns from his DDCA post or BCCI changes the rule.
