MIRPUR (Dhaka): Bangladesh coach
Chandika Hathurusingha said on Saturday that fielding four pacers against India in the first ODI on Thursday was part of his team's game plan and he was pleased with the outcome.
"We've always played to our strengths. If we can exploit the opposition's weakness with our strength, it's ideal," Hathurusingha said.
"We are really happy to have young fast bowlers coming through.
Lot of credit should go to the strength and conditioning coach, the fast bowling coach, and the physio to develop young fast bowlers through the academy system. I think we are on the right track," he said.
How did he rate his team's chances? "I won't say we are favourites, but we are confident of winning the series. If we play to our strengths and if India play below par tomorrow, we will win," said the coach.
Hathurusingha, however, maintained that he was not happy with his team's overall effort in the first ODI. "I'm not happy at all. The scary thing is, although we won, we can still improve, not only batting, but also in fielding as well as bowling. I think we played much better against Pakistan."
