HYDERABAD: The Lahore Badshahs' reputation lay in tatters after the severe mauling they received at the hands of Royal Bengal Tigers, who romped home by eight wickets in the ICL 20s Indian Challenge at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, on Sunday night.
It was a patchy performance by the team from across the Wagah Border, which still hasn't awakened out of its slumber.
On the other hand, the Tigers put in an inspired show on the field to restrict the Badshahs to a manageable 139 for six and then reached 140 for two.
The Tigers' were off to a flier with openers Hamish Marshall and Deep Dasgupta putting the Badshahs' attack to the sword. They put on 51 in 5.5 overs before offie Saqlain Mushtaq got rid of Dasgupta (20).
Though the Tigers lost Abhishek Jhunjhunwala cheaply, Marshall was in no mood to show any mercy to his rivals. He not only kept the scoreboard moving but also struck some bold blows that knocked the wind out of the Badshahs. The 29-year-old Kiwi struck nine fours and two sixes in his 53-ball unbeaten 76.
