The HitsImran Nazir (Lahore Badshahs)Was undoubtedly the superbat of the tournament. Smashed 392 runs, the maximum by anybody, in 12 games, with a fifty and a ton apiece, at an average of 43.55. Took the game away from the opposition in the first few overs itself, as his strike rate of 175.78 suggests. The 26-year-old's 44-ball, unbeaten 111 in the third and deciding final against Hyderabad Heroes was as breathtaking as it was entertaining.
Naved-Ul-Hassan (Lahore Badshahs)He is in a stupendous performance in Season 2 to take home the most coveted Man-of-the-Tournament' award. The 30-year-old had the distinction of not only getting 22 wickets (at a fabulous average of 12.77 and an economy rate of 6.66) the most by any bowler in this tournament. His two half-centuries bolstered his claim to be a genuine all-rounder.
Hamish Marshall (Royal Bengal Tigers)Basically a middle-order bat, the 29-year-old showed that a quality batsman could play at any spot. The Kiwi, who won the batting honours in the first two legs of the tournament, plundered runs at will, scoring 345 runs, including four fifties in nine games (average 49.28). He struck more fours (36) than sixes (13).
FlopsJustin Kemp (Hyderabad Heroes)The South African all-rounder flopped as a batsman but did a great job as a fielder. He took nearly a dozen catches, including the most controversial and the best one of the tournament, in the second final. A total of 86 runs in 12 games was all that Kemp could manage, at a pathetic average of 12.28.
Marvan Atapattu (Delhi Jets)He got a mere 82 with a highest of 25 in seven matches. For a player of his class, it was a severe disappointment and it put pressure on the other batsmen. He was a bit off-cue when leading the side too.
Nathan Astle (Mumbai Champs)"I can't bat for all," Astle had famously remarked. But unfortunately, he too did very little to help Mumbai Champs with the bat, though he bowled reasonably well. He managed 112 runs (ave 28) in six games, including an unbeaten 68. He failed to lead from the front and looked to put the blame on the team.
The show spoilersChris Cairns and Dinesh Mongia (Chandigarh Lions)
Much was expected of Cairns, but the star New Zealand all-rounder messed it up. The Chandigarh Lions captain was banned for the rest of the season, along with teammate Dinesh Mongia.
