COLOMBO: The interim committee running Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been dissolved and the first democratic election in seven years is all set to be held on December 27.
The sports ministry on Tuesday said that nominations have been called within 14 days from November 25, leading up to the election.
Politically appointed interim committees had been running SLC since 2005 after the sacking of the then administration headed by Tilanga Sumathipala.

The last election was held in early 2004 when Sumathipala defeated World Cup winning Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga.
Early this month the last of the interim committees headed by Upali Dharmadasa was dissolved with secretary to the ministry of sports being appointed Competent Authority.
Once cash rich cricket administration is currently in financial dire straits awaiting a government cash injection bail out.
Mismanagement coupled with extravagant ways of the interim committees has been held responsible for slackened resources in the cricket governing body.
