Sidebottom leapfrogs Kumble in ICC ranking

DUBAI: Anil Kumble slipped a place in the bowlers' ranking as England speedster Ryan Sidebottom's excellent performance in the drawn first Test against New Zealand helped him leapfrog Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka, Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar, Kiwi Shane Bond and Anil Kumble in the latest ICC bowlers' ranking.
Sidebottom jumped to sixth place while Kumble slipped to eighth.
Zaheer Khan, tied with Mohammed Asif of Pakistan at 13th slot, and Harbhajan Singh, at 19th spot, are the other two Indian bowlers to be among the top 20 in the ranking, led by Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan.
Among the batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar (13th), Rahul Dravid (14th), Virender Sehwag (16th), Sourav Ganguly (17th) and VVS Laxman (18th) are the Indians to be in the top 20.
With 111 points, India maintains its second place in the team ranking behind top-ranked Australia (141) and third-placed South Africa (109).
