GROS ISLET: Shane Dowrich was one of the standout performers for West Indies in the second Test in Jamaica. It was his 144-run sixth wicket stand with Roston Chase which pulled the hosts out of deep trouble and put them on the road to recovery and finally a respectable draw.
Dowrich, in fact, was all set to get to his maiden Test hundred but his march was stopped by a poor decision from umpire Ian Gould when the wicketkeeper-batsman was on 74.

The 25-year-old Dowrich also excelled behind the stumps, making some acrobatic takes off the pacers while being very solid with his glovework throughout the Test.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, ahead of the third Test which begins here on Tuesday, Dowrich affirmed that the team's morale was high after the fightback in the second Test. "The team showed a lot of character in the Jamaica Test. We're looking to continue the good show."
Dowrich has been one of the few batsmen who have played the Indian spinners with ease. Talking about the reason, Dowrich's brief explanation was, "I prepare well and always back my preparation."
About the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Dowrich's assessment was, "It's a good pitch. It's going to give the bowlers a bit but should be good for batting."
