MUMBAI: A one-time contender for an off-spinning all-rounder's spot in the Mumbai Ranji side Aniket Redkar claimed five wickets for his new side DY Patil Sports Club against debutants Akbar Travels on day two of the Times Cricket Shield A Division Group A tie at Nerul on Thursday.
Chasing 217, Akbar Travels were 170 for nine with Aslam Shaikh doing battle with an unbeaten 28.

Pratik Desai was top scorer with 68.
Redkar, who had to shoulder the burden in the absence of Iqbal Abdulla (on Mumbai U-22 duty) kept varying his deliveries and was rewarded with wickets from time to time. He was in earlier in the Tata���s team but dogged by injury. Abey Kuruvilla who got him to DY Patil this season, said, "Redkar bowled well, with a good loop, no bad balls and good rhythm."
In the other tie in this group, Indian Oil took a lead of 61 over Bharat Petroleum thanks to spintwins leggie Sairaj Bahutule and off spinner Anu Revandkar who claimed four wickets apiece.
Chasing 182, IOC made 243 with UP batsman Ravikant Shukla top scoring with an unbeaten 84. They then sent back first-innings top scorer Bhavin Thakkar before the close in their second knock.
In group B, seamer Mandeep Moongela produced another of his long spells, this time a 20-over effort that got him five wickets for 51 as Western Railway B limped to 171 for eight chasing Air India���s 346. Baroda veteran Jacob Martin carried a lone vigil with an unbeaten 69.

Nishit Shetty (109 not out) and youngster Nikhil Patil Jr (81) added 188 for the fifth wicket to sustain the innings of Tata Sports against Mumbai Police. Patil continued in the same vein that made him the top run-getter for CCI in the B Division Kanga league with a century on the final day.
Tata,s declared at 316 for five, a lead of 244 and sent back Nilesh Bhoir bowled first ball by Rahil Shaikh in the second innings.
