DUBAI, December 12: Former South African all-rounder Mike Procter was on Wednesday appointed match referee for the four-match Test series between India and Australia starting on December 26 in Melbourne.
Mark Benson of England and New Zealand's Billy Bowden will be in charge of the first Test in Melbourne, while Benson will be joined by West Indies' Steve Bucknor for the second Test in Sydney.

Asad Rauf of Pakistan will then team up with Bucknor for the third Test in Perth and with Bowden for the fourth Test in Adelaide.
Meanwhile, West Indies will kick off its tour of South Africa with a Twenty20 International in Port Elizabeth on Sunday to be overseen by Sri Lankan Ranjan Madugalle.
The focus will then shift to the three-Test series with Port Elizabeth hosting the Boxing Day Test starting December 26 to be officiated by Pakistani Aleem Dar and Russell Tiffin of Zimbabwe.
Tiffin will be joined by Simon Taufel of Australia for the second Test in Cape Town.
Dar and Taufel will stand in the third Test starting on Durban on 10 January.
The series will be overseen by Roshan Mahanama, who will hand over charge to India's Javagal Srinath for the Twenty20 international and the ODI series that follow.
In New Zealand, the hosts will face Bangladesh in a three-ODI and two-Test series that will be overseen by former England batsman Chris Broad.
The first two ODIs in Auckland and Napier will be umpired by Steve Bucknor, while Nigel Llong will stand in the third ODI in Queenstown.
