CHENNAI: As India close the door on S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan for spot-fixing, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying to fast-track Mohammad Aamer back into first-class cricket.
The paceman, who was banned for five years for spot-fixing in a Test series in England, is supposed to be away from cricket till 2016. But PCB CEO Subhan Ahmed told the TOI on Saturday on the sidelines of the Asian Cricket Council meeting that they will ask the ICC if Aamer can start playing domestic cricket from next season.

"He was very young when he committed the crime. Aamer is a good bowler and he is repentant for what he has done," Ahmed said. When asked whether it would be sending a wrong signal to those who commit such crimes, Ahmed said: "I don't think so. He has co-operated with the Anti-Corruption Unit as much as possible.
The talent of the boy also has to be taken into account. If he comes back to domestic cricket in the coming days, it will be easier for him to find his footing in international cricket when the ban is over."
