Palam spectators breach security

NEW DELHI: What happened once Mandeep Singh scored the winning runs for India A on Tuesday was a throwback to English summers of two decades ago -a full-scale crowd invasion, virtually unheard of in this day and age. Only, the losing team was getting all the attention.
A healthy crowd, virtually drawing the circumference of the playing area, barged on to the field to greet the South Africans.The few security personnel present at the Air Force Sports Complex in Palam were able to guard the players and see them off the field, though modern-day security standards would not put the arrangements in the top bracket.
Needless to say, it's the IPL effect -fans have seen the South Africans players lighting up the proceedings. The India `A' team too boasted IPL players, but the cheers were reserved for the visitors. A hush came over the ground when AB de Villiers top-edged Kuldeep Yadav to the man at short fine-leg. The buzz only returned when JP Duminy started depositing Anureet Singh and Rishi Dhawan outside the fence with ease.
