AHMEDABAD: A brief look at Baroda's young wicketkeeper
Dixit Patel and one will wonder how a tiny man of his stature ever be playing cricket.
But as they say, looks can be deceptive, Dixit is a classic case of pint-size dynamo.
The 19-year-old Navsari born had turned out for his Ranji team Baroda for the first time on Tuesday when Baroda beat Maharashtra with ease in the Late Ramakant Desai West Zone one-dayers played in Ahmedabad.
This youngster caught everyone's eye immediately as he kept the wickets very well on a tough turning track on his debut match. Speaking about the future keeper of Baroda, Baroda Cricket Association's chairman on the selection committee and one of the finest wicketkeepers in India,
Nayan Mongia said that Dixit is a very good keeper.
"He was debuting and must have had nerves yet he collected beautifully," Mongia said.
Talking about his technical aspect, Mongia said that he is a young talent and still needs grooming. "I feel technically he is sound but will improve as he will play matches. He can improve on his batting too," the former India stumper said.
Though Mongia did not predict whether Dixit will play for India or no but he did dropped hints that he is one of the guys who will progress in future.
