NEW DELHI, June 10: Asia XI captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and decided to bat first against Africa XI in the final ODI of the Afro-Asia Cup at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
The hot and humid conditions have taken a toll on the Asian and African XI teams as the captains Mahela Jayawardene and Justin Kemp on Saturday night indicated there may be some changes in the teams for the last One-dayer of the Afro-Asian Cup on Sunday.
Speaking after clinching the series 2-0 with a 31 run win in the second match, Jayawardene said Sanath Jayasuriya had stomach problem and had gone back to the hotel and speedster Zaheer Khan sustained a "strain".
"The third match is going to be serious as last two matches. We have some injury problems. We have achieved our first priority of winning the series. But it would be nice to finish it off 3-0," he said.
Praising Dilhara Fernando, who claimed four wickets, and Asif, he said, he was not sure about Khan, who limped back to the pavilion midway through his third over.
"Zaheer just (suffered) a strain... nothing serious. We have to check with the physio whether he would be able to play tomorrow. Its good he stopped early because it could have got aggravated," he said.
On changes in the battling line up, he said it was a possibility and Yuvraj Singh could be promoted.
On losing the series, he said his side could have won the two games. "If you look at scores we could have won both. We have a young team with players not much experienced."
