AHMEDABAD: Baroda team has always boast of featuring famed cricketers in their playing line-up. Right from Anshuman Gaikwad to Kiran More and Nayan Mongia to now the Pathan Bros—Yusuf and Irfan and Munaf Patel.
However, there is one youngster who is making steady progress despite having all the heavy weights in the team. The 24-year-old Kedar Devdhar made his first class debut in 2009 and since then has been hanging around in the team scoring two centuries so far in first class.
His recent exploits was a 101-ball 94 which helped laid the platform for West Zone to lift the Deodhar Trophy with a massive win over North Zone in Visakhapatnam recently.
Kedar was under pressure when he stepped on to the field with West Zone having lost Parthiv Patel in the ninth over of their innings. Devdhar showed grit and patience as he joined force with much senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and together they two added 144 crucial runs for the second wicket which proved vital in the end.
Kedar is in good form as he made a match-winning 103 runs against Maharashtra in the Ramakant Desai West Zone one-dayers tournament held in Rajkot. It was in the basis of this knock that the Baroda lad was picked up for the Deodhar Trophy. The right-handed batsman is making steady progress and is slowly coming out of the shadows of the big players.
