NEW DELHI: In the ongoing ODI series between India and New Zealand, the Kane Williamson-led side has been left surprised by a particular bowler who is more regarded for his batting abilities. Whenever India captain
MS Dhoni has thrown the ball to that part-timer, he has rewarded him with a wicket.
And the trend continued in the third ODI as well when
Kedar Jadhav removed captain Williamson in his second over. The offspinner finished with three wickets in five overs and India later went on to register a comprehensive win, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
It's not just on the field that Jadhav is creating ripples with his offspinners. On Sunday, it was the turn of another New Zealander to be at the receiving end of his exploits.
Former New Zealand allrounder
Scott Styris was in the commentary box alongwith
Ravi Shastri and
Sunil Gavaskar, taking the viewers through the match proceedings.
So when he saw Jadhav being introduced into the attack, he made a wager.
He proclaimed on live TV, "I will walk out of the commentary box, and take the first flight to New Zealand if Jadhav takes a wicket today."
But as it turned out, Jadhav dismissed Williamson, opener Tom Latham and allrounder
Corey Anderson in his five overs.
It was time to walk the talk and Styris, sportingly, placed the mike on his desk, removed the microphone and walked out of the box leaving Gavaskar and Shastri in splits.
