Most of their batsmen have performed better in the limited-overs format. Martin Guptill is a giant of the One-day game, averaging 55.61in ODIs in the last three years. His Test average in the same period has been a paltry 28.29.

The presence of match-winning all-rounders like Jimmy Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Corey Anderson and Mitchell Santner solves many problems for Black Caps captain Kane Williamson. Anderson, who is coming back into the New Zealand team after a long injury layoff, held the record for fastest ODI ton before AB de Villiers broke it.

With Tim Southee back in the Kiwi ranks, the pace bowling looks solid. The Kiwi bowlers are also expected to exploit the conditions better than they did in the Tests. Matt Henry picked up 15 wickets at an average of 19.87 in an ODI series against Pakistan recently.
