AHMEDABAD: He was one of the most prolific run scorers for Gujarat in first class matches during his hey days but Mukund Parmar has also proven that he is equally competent when it comes to coaching.
Parmar is on a high after he was named the coach of the India U-23 team which will play Asia Cricket Council Emerging Cup in Singapore from August 17.
However, the 44-year-old is also delighted of the fact that the team he will be the coach of will feature five Gujaratis - Manpreet Juneja, Smit Patel, Akshar Patel, Jaspreet Bhumrah and Harshal Patel (now plays for Haryana).

Parmar, who was the Ranji coach for 2012 season, has worked with these budding talents even before he was named the Gujarat's coach.
"It's a great feeling to see these boys progress to international level. I have taken number of U-19 national camps and there these boys showed willingness to learn more and stay focused," Parmar said.
According to Parmar, hard hitting batsman Juneja is a bright prospect and he can make it really big. Parmar also yearns to see more boys from Gujarat in the Indian team.
"There is a lot of talent in the state and with the way things are panning out, I am hopeful that other than Parthiv, there will be more international players from the state," said Parmar.
