AHMEDABAD: Cricket lovers of Gujarat have liked the way Indian Test team’s new skipper
Virat Kohli and his men battled for a draw in his first match as permanent Test skipper.
But many of them are of the opinion that India's pace attack needed to emulate Australia's quicks if they were to progress as a power in the longest form of the game.
India flirted with what would have been an incredible fourth innings run chase at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday having been set 349 for victory after Australia's overnight declaration.
Indian pacers inability in all the four Tests was what worried Ahmedabad's Paresh Sanghvi, an MBA student. "How do you win matches without taking all 20 wickets," he asked.
"And look at Aussies pace attack— Josh Hazlewood,
Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris—they are all wicket-taking bowlers as they put ball in the right places all through the matches," he added.
Nirav Patel too was critical of Indian bowlers. "Bhuvneshwar Kumar was just a pale shadow of himself. He was never threatening in the whole match. With this pace attack, we will continue to embarrass ourselves," a disheartened Nirav said. Gujarati cricket lovers want to see new faces in Indian bowling.
