India names 30 probables for ICC Women's World Cup

DUBAI: One of the world's top batswomen Mithali Raj and 2007 ICC Women Cricketer of the Year Jhulan Goswami figured among a list of 30 players named in the Indian provisional squad for this year's World Cup in Australia from March 7 to 22.
Other notable members of the Indian provisional squad include Anjum Chopra, Latika Kumari and Rumeli Dhar, according to the list submitted in October last and released today by the ICC.
The best in women's cricket have been named in the provisional squads of the other countries also.
According to participating rules in ICC events, the teams have to submit their provisional squads 60 days prior to the start of the tournament while the teams are expected to name their final 15-player squads 30 days before the first match.
India, England, South Africa and the West Indies, which submitted its 15-player squad in October, has no ODIs planned in lead up to the tournament while Australia and New Zealand will make final touches to their preparations by playing in the Rose Bowl Series in New Zealand from 1 to 12 February.
The ICC Women's World Cup 2009 will see the world's top eight teams -- hosts and holders Australia, along with England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the West Indies -- compete at six venues across New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
