MUMBAI: India Cements dashed DY Patil Group A's title hopes, beating the hosts by six wickets to lift the trophy in the DY Patil T20 Tournament at the DY Patil Stadium, Nerul, on Saturday.
The decision to bat first after winning the toss finally backfired for the hosts as their batsmen failed to come to terms with some accurate bowling from India Cements' S Suresh, Suresh Kumar and P Amarnath and were restricted to 155 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Indian Cements didn't start too well, losing opener, B Arun Karthik for seven and the next three batsmen with the scoreboard reading 70. However, the in-form Dinesh Karthik and Hemang Badani then put on an unbeaten partnership of 88 runs for the fifth wicket to see their team through with two overs to spare.
Hemang Badani of India Cements was adjudged the ‘Man of the Series', while the DY Patil's Swapnil Aasnodkar was named as the ‘Best Batsman'. Usman Malvi of Tata Sports Club was adjudged as the ‘Best Bowler', while the ‘Best Fielder' honour went to Arun Kartik of India Cements.
Brief Scores: DY Patil Group A 155-8 in 20 overs (Shrideep Mangela 48, Abhishek Raut 28; S Suresh 3-25; Suresh Kumar 2-19, P Amarnath 2-38) lost to India Cements 158-4 in 18 overs (Dinesh Karthik 46, Hemang Badani 42, S Suresh 23, Sree Kumar Naiar 23; Anupam Sanklecha 2-25) by six wickets.
