CHANDIGARH, October 3: Trying hard to impress the national selectors, Srinagar's young paceman Abid Nabi believes the Indian Cricket League (ICL) would give him "good exposure" to improve his prospects for a berth in the India team.
"It has been my dream to play for India. Like any cricketer of my age, I still hope to play for the country one fine day," 21-year-old Nabi said.
"ICL is a different platform. I thought the opportunity has come my way and I should accept it. I had discussion with Kiran More and some other members of the ICL," he said added the League would help him "improving prospects" to play for India.
Nabi said he had been playing in the Ranji side from Jammu and Kashmir for the past three years and had bagged 84 wickets which includes 25 from the One-dayers.
But he drew larger attention last year, the pacer was asked to bowl at the Indian team's net practice during the second Test against England in Mohali and had then drawn a lot of praise from VVS Laxman, who was impressed with his bowling generating a pace of over 145 kmph.
"I have always wanted to be a fast bowler and love to see fear in the eyes of batsman I bowl at," said Nabi.
JKCA bans Nabi, MahajanThe Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association has banned two players from the state including Abid Nabi for joining ICL. The registrations of Nabi and Truv Mahajan, a Jammu-based player, has been cancelled.
