ICC awaits BCCI report on ICL
MOHALI: ICC's chief executive officer Haroon Lorgat said on Friday the world body is still considering taking a final call on the future of Indian Cricket League. Talking on the sidelines of the second Test between India and Australia, Haroon said, "We have received an application from ICL to become an official competition... we will consider it only after receiving a report from BCCI on the recently held meeting between BCCI and ICL.

I can't make any final comment at this stage, as ICC executive committee will take the final decision on the fate of ICL only after reviewing BCCI's report."
The statement sounds diplomatic, as BCCI secretary N Srinivasan had already said that the board won't have further dialogue with ICL after talks between the two bodies failed. Haroon also stated it was BCCI which requested the world cricket body for a discussion with ICL at the ICC meeting held recently in Dubai.
On Sri Lanka's tour of England in May next year, which is in doubt as Sri Lankan players are likely to accept BCCI's offer to appear in the IPL instead of the Test tour, Haroon said, "Both the cricket boards want to go ahead with the tour.
Haroon expressed concern over the near empty ground at PCA Stadium, which has cast a doubt over the popularity of Test cricket. "It was disappointing to see the low turn out at Mohali on a day when Sachin broke Lara's record. ICC wants to promote Test cricket and will look at the issue seriously," he said.
