I should be fit to bowl again around mid July: Gul
KARACHI: Experienced pacer Umar Gul, who recently underwent a knee surgery in Australia, says he is likely to be fit to bowl again by mid July.
"From what I have been told I should be fit to bowl again around mid July. I myself want to make a strong comeback to international cricket," Gul said.
He also said he was badly missing playing for Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy in England.

The 29-year old pacer from Peshawar made it clear that despite the injury, he had no intentions of quitting any format of the game.
Gul, who had arthroscopy in May, said he was already feeling better and was in the second stage of his rehabilitation process.
"It was necessary to have the surgery and I was told by doctors that If I wanted to continue playing and bowling the knee problem wouldn't go away without having proper surgery," he said.
"I am happy the surgery is done with and now I am strictly sticking to the rehabilitation process. Because I don't have any intention to reduce my workload when I resume playing because I enjoy bowling in all formats of the game," he said.

The pacer said the knee injury he suffered was not a chronic one.
"It happened suddenly in South Africa while I was bowling. So there is nothing one can do about it. But it is frustrating having to sit out for such a long while. I am missing not being part of the Champions Trophy campaign," he said.
Gul said he had successfully completed the first phase of rehabilitation which was for three weeks and was now in the second stage where his knee was being strengthened.
"I have been given specific exercise routines and I am following them because the doctors have said I should only resume playing when completely fit because I can't afford to have another knee problem again."
