NEW DELHI: Delhi Opener Aakash Chopra on Tuesday said he was unperturbed by the continuous indifference of national selectors towards him, and his unbeaten 93 against Pakistan's Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited was not meant to send any message to them.
"It (innings) wasn't meant to send any message to anyone. We are professionals players, we have to do our job and score runs.
If you don't get selected in the team and don't score runs also, it will be like shooting yourself in the foot. There is no point in sulking," he said after the second day's play in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy.
Chopra was the second highest-run-getter in the 2007-08 domestic session and the fourth highest scorer ever but despite his good show he was not picked in the Indian A team that is playing in the tri-series against Australia A and New Zealand A in Hyderabad.
Although Chopra and Virat Kohli put Delhi in a commanding position against SNGPL, the stylish opener feels it was a job just half done.
"It was still job half done for the team, we conceded the first innings lead and there is a lot of work needed to be done in the game," he said.
"It was a good wicket, it has eased out... I am not bothered about the negative lines on the wicket," Chopra added.
On his 196-run partnership with Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 91, he said, "We didn't plan or strategise to make it possible, we were just playing our natural game. We both complimented each other and whenever we were talking between the overs, we were just gossiping and not discussing the game."
SNGPL's Akmal brothers -- Umar and Adnan -- said, "anything below 350, wouldn't be a safe target but it's regretful that we didn't play a big innings in condusive conditions."
