GNPS, CCA crush Ropar team in u-16 tourney

CHANDIGARH: Combined team of Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS) and Chandigarh Cricket Association defeated Ropar District Cricket Association by 115 runs in the first match of under-16 cricket tournament in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, GNPS and CCA elected to bat first. Shivam Bhambri and Arjit Singh opened the inning and scored 56 runs for the first wicket partnership.Arjit was the first to get out, but by then he had scored 33 runs with the help of 4 boundaries.
Shivam, who scored valuable 51 runs, was caught at mid-wicket. After that, Anmolpreet Singh and Kapil Poonia held the crease and shared the partnership of 180 runs. Anmolpreet Singh scored 81 runs that included seven fours and three sixes, while Kapil Poonia scored 102 runs and his inning included ,11 fours and two sixes. At the end of inning GNPS and CCA put up 302 runs on score board with the loss of 5 wickets.
While chasing the target, the batsman of Ropar district cricket association failed to ensure good partnerships. Only batsman to shine in the Ropar inning was Harpreet Singh who scored 75 runs that included 10 fours and 2 sixes.
