SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Monday issued a notice to former chief minister Farooq Abdullah in the multi-crore cricket scam case after a PIL was filed by a former Ranji player Majid Yaqoob Dar and Nissar Ahmad Khan.
A division bench of the High Court headed by the Chief Justice has issued the notice.
Allegations of misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 40 crore were made in 2012 after BCCI stopped funding to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
The court on Monday also directed the investigating agencies to file a "proper" status report by or before next date of hearing of the case, fixed for next week. Farooq is currently the president of the JKCA.
The petitioners have alleged that crores of rupees were swindled by the office bearers of the JKCA, who used the money meant for the association for personal gain.
