MUMBAI: It was supposed to be a four-day affair but Bharat Petroleum needed just two to bag the Times Shield Division A title, beating Tata Sports Club at the BKC ground in Bandra on Sunday. Bharat Petroleum won the clash on account of their first innings lead.
Replying to Tata's total of 186, BP were cruising at 89-2 before they lost night watchman Kiran Adav with only seven more runs added to the total.

It took some repair work from skipper Vinayak Mane and Sitanshu Kotak who pushed the score to 154 before spinner Mithun Mukherjee accounted for Mane's wicket.
Kotak and Vinit Indulkar added another 41 as BP reached lunch with 195-4 before Tata's skipper, Ramesh Powar, decided to concede the game.
Kotak remained unbeaten on 42 from 89 balls with the help of six hits to fence while Indulkar chipped in with 17. For Tata's, Mukherjee was the most successful bowler with figures of 2-38 while Powar picked up one wicket.
Brief scores: Tata Sports Club 186 lost to Bharat Petroleum 195- 4 (Bhavin Thakkar 25, Anup Revandkar 51, Vinayak Mane 41, Sitanshu Kotak 42 n.o., Vinit Indulkar 17 n.o.; Mithun Mukharji 2-38) on first innings lead.
