NEW DELHI, November 17: With speculation rife that he will retire after the Test series against Australia, veteran Sri Lankan batsman Marvan Atapattu was on Saturday named captain of Indian Cricket League's Delhi Jets team for the Twenty20 championship starting November 30 in Panchkula.
Delhi Jets coach Madan Lal said Atapattu will lead the side after Sri Lanka's two-Test series against Australia ends next week.

"Atapattu will lead the side. After finishing his commitments Down Under with the Sri Lankan team, he will take charge of the Delhi Jets," Lal said.
Atapattu is facing disciplinary action on his return to Sri Lanka for taking a dig at the selection committee.
Atapattu went to Australia without having played a single Test match since December 2005 and was only allowed to stay after skipper Mahela Jayawardene and coach Trevor Bayliss intervened.
The 36-year-old former captain on Saturday said that he was considering retirement after the second Test at Hobart and was looking to move to Australia and play club cricket for St. George in Brisbane.
The batsman is also in touch with an Australian media organisation for a commentary assignment during the forthcoming triangular ODI series featuring Australia, India and Sri Lanka.
